Believe in God is like believing the lame government.
They both have the 'authority' to make us 'obey', but what they do? Is it worth our faith?
Let's say I do believe in Harvey Dent :p But in fact --in the end-- he could not fulfill his promise, he even be the criminal himself!
Many would say, it is different with God. He is EXTRA. His good beyond our thinking. He brings the most justice, that there will be no imbalance. But what we see? Evil, illness, suffer, catastrophe, bad parents, war in the name of religion, terrorist, disable-person, hunger, tears.
We see the TRUTH around us, when actually God, or the government, promised to care (pasal 34 UUD; and all the promises God made to love his 'children').
The politician asks us to believe that they will give the best, a 'change' for a better country, better living. God asks us to believe for the day of judgment when He gives us an eternal luxury life, peace and joy.
The truth is around. The fact is watching us (should we watch them). Gloomy world with imbalance justice!
Will you speak in the name of nationality when the 'elderly' don't even care? Will you VOTE them in the next election?
In other side, after we see lots sadness around, will you 'vote' God to be the governor in your heart?
I won't.
And for that --think long-- 'Whom should I vote for the election 2009 ya?' . Hahaha.

Thinking atheistic usually starts emotionally just like you wrote above..
But.. atheism is more. It provides plenty of logical reasons, still this is good post. Carry on :P

All formal dogmatic religions are fallacious and must never be accepted by self-respecting persons as final - Hypatia of Alexandria (a female scholar at the end of hellenistic age. Murdered by christian mob, she became a martyr of rationalism)
